Closing time

This is, for me, a condensed version of grief. And , yes, the title of the deviation does have something to do with Green Day's song of the same name. The first block has words from a song by REM. They seem to describe best the feelings I had while seeing that what I had put all my stock in, was at best, a dream. I had extremely high expectations that were not met because nothing can 'fix' an old problem concerning generational habits and sins. The second block has a quote from the song 'Closing Time' that describe the acceptance that it is time to move on. The pink cloud has dissipated and reality is clear. It's time to move toward a new beginning but of course it's usually the end of something else. The last block is of an optimistic nature. For me, my prize is to see the heart of God. It can be any short term goal for someone else. But I am not ashamed to say that Jesus is really my goal. There are many things for me to be ashamed of. But the gospel is not one of them. Since Rosh Hoshanna is near, I like to think September is a time of new beginnings. School, Rosh Hoshanna, Autumn. I like the custom of taking a stone that represents some old thing that needs to be discarded. One throws it in a river, lake or ocean. So there you have it.
